Second Home?
With low interest rates and a lackluster stock market the
norm, about one in four Americans is now investing in a second home - and CNN
recently reported that 30 million Americans will be purchasing second homes in
the next 10 years. With homes appreciating 49% between the fourth quarters of
2000 and 2003 in the 13 top seasonal vacation counties (where seasonal homes
represented less than 10% of housing), Americans have had strong incentives to
enter the second-home market.
In such a hot market, where the motivation to buy is already
strong, we can best serve you as a trusted advisor. In guiding your selection,
we can help you weigh such factors as travel time, seasonal climate, proximity
to health care facilities, access to utilities, zoning restrictions and
homeowners insurance (generally higher than that for a primary
residence).
Even if you're not exactly looking at buying a home in a
vacation hotspot, something else to note is many parents are also buying
second-homes for their college-bound children to bypass paying rent. Or if their
kids are ready to graduate, instead of handing them the keys to a new car,
they're handing them the keys to a new condo.

Meet Cherie Turner, the newest member of the
CONDOChicago teamCherie Turner recently joined Keller
Willams after deciding to turn her increasing obsession with Chicago real estate
into a career. Born and raised in Chicagoland, Cherie has an intimate and
ever-increasing knowledge of many of the city's neighborhoods. Whether
partnering with sellers or helping buyers find the right home, enthusiasim,
warmth, and professionalism is what Cherie brings to the table making her a
valuable asset to her clients.
Prior to entering the world of real
estate, Cherie developed her customer service and technical skills as an Account
Manager with CDW Corporation (a Fortune 500 company). Cherie graduated from the
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Science degree in
Psychology (GO ILLINI!). Cherie is currently a member of the Chicago
Association of Realtors and the North Shore Theatre of Wilmette. She enjoys
reading, shopping,
performing onstage, and working out.
